Good news for people who loves basketball in any form specially for those who supports skibb mens basketball team, a new website  will go live at the end of january 2016

First game of 2013/2014 season is the mirror of all our season,mainly injury's didn't let us to get better results in D1 league,however with 6 wins and 10 loses we shared 6-8 place out of nine teams which is not bad,because that was first year in D1 - league with higher basketball level and also we preserve our place in D1 for the next season.
                                                                 

FIRST TASTE OF DIVISION 1

First step in Division 1 league wasn't successful. Skibbereen lost their first game against Ballincollig by 57-61. It was away game and the team was short of numbers,so it makes us think that our next meeting going to be a real battle.Want to wish for team to train harder and believe to ourselfs and victory's will come,it's only beginning... Best of luck lads!!!

BASKETBALL OPPORTUNITY

Skibbereen's men's basketball team looking for basketball players to fill the team for new season.New basketball season will start in the end of september,so it's  right time to raise a team and do some trainings,just to prepare for the new season.Skibbereen will play in division 1 league this year,it's a very high level of basketball. So everyone who love basketball and have some basketball skills,can come at our training next monday july 29 - 18:45 in skibbereen sport center and try himself. Maybe you are the one what we are looking for,so  be there and try yourself. See you there...

ANSWER

After 2012-2013 basketball season, finally we can answer to question : whats the average score Skibb was making in every game? The right answer is 72 points per game, which is  the best result in the league. Our offense was quick and hard stoppable. The highest score this season Skibb scored was 107 points against Neptune, and it's also the best result in the league. Our lowest score was 40 points against Mathews A, they had best defence in the league over all season. Our defence was nominated in the third place with 48 defencive points.

THE LAST STEP UNSUCCESSFUL

Skibbereen lose the last game this season against Mathews A last night in top four semi final. Our oponents played really hard basketball and they just hammered us. We were to soft for that physical game and also we did not wanted to win that game as they did. We did not played our game last night - our plays wasn't worked at all, because we haven't done training as a full team for a few months - ''genuine reasons'' we can blame only ourselves. It's really difficult to finish season with that chord...

8:00 pm. up in Cork in Prochial hall, Skibbereen will play in top four semi final.

LAST GAME OF THE REGULAR SEASON

Last game of the regular season went well. 68 - 40 Skibbereen defeated Cork Celts at home, and took the second place in the league after regular season, it also means that we are going to final four.

SKIBB COULDN'T STOP MALLOW

Skibbereen couldn't stop the top team of the league. 57 - 60  Skibbereen lose against Mallow last night at home. It was better game than first game against them,when Skibb lose by 18 points,so improvement is here,but also there is a lot of room for our improvement, and we will... it's just a time question!!!

BASKETBALL WEEKEND

Basketball weekend in Skibbereen. Tonight at 7:30 pm. in Skibbereen Sport Center , our men team will meet Mallow Y.C.  It's a top team of our Division 2 league. They are in the first place with 12 straight wins and 0 defeat. Skibbereen lost the first game against them in their place, but tonight we will play at home and with our fans support everything is possible. We will miss some players tonight because of injuries, that is the worst part of overall,however we will fight...

Also guys, it will be another game tomorrow, in Skibbereen Sport Center at 12:30pm. Skibbereen versus Cork Celts. It will be the last game of regular season. So it's a last chance to see our team playing at home. After that final four up in Cork - ''Prochial Hall'' and then the season will be over. Hope you all will enjoy the basketball weekend!!!

BLED, BUT INVINCIBLE

Skibbereen had only five players for the game against Mathews B, because of injury's and sicknesses. Skibbereen started badly, offense wasn't smooth - couldn't made open shots,but the opponents weren't any better. Skib had many turnovers because of the rush and lack of patience. In the second quarter Skib opened up a lead, did not repeat mistakes as they did in the first quarter and played ''their game'', from that point everything went smooth and opponents has opposed to Skib. Skibbereen won the game 71 - 36 and strengthened their positions in the league.

62 - 46 another great win. Skibbereen was leading since the first second, although Skibb played wawy. First two quarters skibb won easily,but then they lost badly third quarter and the lead was gone,because lads  been entrusted victory too soon.Forth quarter they began to play their game and left no hope to Opponents.

SKIBB DEFEATED MATHEWS A

82 - 75 Skibbereen defeated Mathews A team. Both teams played at a descent level and it was an entertaining and the scoreline reflected how close the game was all evening. A tense fourth quarter make both sides fought with everything they had, and in very last minute Skibbereen played a bit better which allowed them to celebrate victory.

We did lose the first game against them by 2 points in their place so now, we need to take back what we lost...The game starts at 20:00 in skibbereen sport center so don't miss it, it's going to be very interesting and unpredictable, but with our fans support we can do it!!! Skibbereen won against Ballincolliq 87 - 52  Skibbereen took a lead since the first minute and never let them  even to think about the victory! Great team play again!!!

Skibbereen Div 2 Cup Champions!!!

Skibbereen Div 2 team played magnificent basketball to triumph over Div 2 team Neptune 63 - 42 in the Championship final at the Parochial Hall last night. Skibbereen have been training extremely hard this season and all this effort paid off last night as the entire team played superbly.This win was not down to one individual however as every player in the team made a huge contribution.Well   done to both teams and best of luck in the League upcoming games!!!

Game started very badly for skib,we were sleepy and we were not concentrate on our game,they left us 10 points behind.However we did pick up our game on third quarter and the last quarter was decisive to us,we played point to point with them,but the things like be defeated on rebounds gave to them to many second chances,also our turnovers did a big favour to them...most important thing now to know where we need to improve our game,so from that point we need to move on!!!

TEAM...

When we step onto the court, we don't have to think about anything. If we have a problem off the court, we find that after we play, our mind is clearer and we can come up with a better solution,that's     because we so much like basketball, and to play basketball together.Best of luck tomorrow guys!!!
